Retired since June 2021, Guylaine Le Dorze was a full professor at the \u00c9cole d'orthophonie et d'audiologie at the University of Montreal and a researcher at the Montreal Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Research Centre. She has consistently shared her expertise on aphasia and the experiences of people living with this language disorder and their loved ones with the Foundation. <\/span><\/p>


<\/span><\/p>\n

She has collaborated on several AQPA projects, including the educational video Pour communiquer avec une personne aphasique (Communicating with a person with aphasia). She participated in the project \u201cTh\u00e9\u00e2tre forum chez les a\u00een\u00e9s en r\u00e9sidence : cr\u00e9ation de liens avec la communaut\u00e9 et sensibilisation \u00e0 l'aphasie\u201d (Forum theater for seniors in residence: building community ties and raising awareness about aphasia), with Mayda Merkerian of the organization Mise au Jeu and Louise Bourbonnais, then director of the AQPA. In connection with this project, she supervised the master\u2019s thesis of a student in speech therapy, Marie Gagnon-Brousseau. More recently, she supervised the master's thesis in speech-language pathology of Adalie Le Nguyen who conducted a pilot study with AQPA members on the residential and social participation needs of people with aphasia after rehabilitation.<\/p>


<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Guylaine Le Dorze was a member of the scientific committee for the 2017 Stroke Summit, an event organized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation where several hundred people from the health and rehabilitation fields are invited to attend presentations by specialists. She invited Louise Bourbonnais to speak about the AQPA's activities promoting the social integration of people living with aphasia.<\/p>

The Aphasia House Foundation is delighted to have her on its board of directors\nand to benefit from her sound advice since its inception. Mohamed Hocini is Algerian of Berber origin. He is the father of two children. He has nearly 16 years of experience in accounting and auditing in the non-profit sector. His studies and interests in a variety of fields give him a unique approach to accounting and auditing. He enjoys working with community organizations because he believes that his contribution helps them achieve their goals and improves society in general. A graduate of McGill University's Faculty of Law (BCL), Michel Fleury was called to the Quebec Bar in 1974. He practiced general law in Montreal, first at the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Legal Aid Office and then in private practice at the firm Guy et Gilbert as a partner for most of his professional life. Michelyne D. Hubert, a MOA Speech-language pathologist who graduated from the University of Montreal in speech-language pathology is a clinician at the Institut universitaire de g\u00e9riatrie de Montr\u00e9al. Since the beginning of her career, she has been regularly involved in teaching and research concerning people with aphasia and their families. She has also been a member of the board of directors and various committees of her professional association.<\/p>

As for her commitment to people with aphasia, here is what Michelyne would tell you...<\/u> vous raconterait\u2026<\/u><\/p>

The desire to work as a speech-language pathologist with people with aphasia and their families quickly became part of my roadmap during my academic career, inspired by people who are still very dear to me.<\/em><\/p>

As a young professional, life offered me the opportunity to be among the first privileged witnesses to the ambitious vision of a small group of people with aphasia: to create a \u201cQuebec association for people with aphasia.\u201d With modest means but heads full of ideas, these dreamers called on my commitment and loyalty to contribute to the birth of the AQPA.<\/em><\/p>

Since those first steps with them, my support has often taken on colors very different from those of a simple speech therapist! But over the years, each step taken with them and for them has allowed me to grow as a professional, but above all as a person!<\/em><\/p>

From the very beginning, I have proudly carried the \u201cAQPA flag\u201d high above our heads, enabling the AQPA to grow and take its place in society for many years. Today, my engagement within the Foundation for this association, continues wholeheartedly with the same loyalty and sincerity in order to move forward together toward greater autonomy. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal in 1980, Nathalie Blouin began her professional practice in family medicine in 1981. After a busy career in private practice, emergency rooms, patients' homes, and CLSCs, she discovered the Institut universitaire de g\u00e9riatrie de Montr\u00e9al, where she decided to gradually settle down starting in 1988.<\/p>

Her practice in geriatrics led her from long-term care to functional and intensive rehabilitation, then to outpatient clinics. Starting in 1996, she participated in the interdisciplinary care of people who had suffered a stroke. There, she developed an interest in communication issues and pro-pharyngeal dysphagia. In 1997, she helped set up an interdisciplinary outpatient clinic for the assessment and care of dysphagia. She recently retired.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

After working as a nurse in the healthcare sector, Fran\u00e7oise Hamel-Burrage decided to pursue her passion for organizing living spaces: she earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Montreal, followed by a master's degree in urban planning. Her interests include quality of life and changes in the perception of the concept of health, as well as therapeutic environments in the Western world.
